A Little About Me:
Richard has been racing since 1998 when he was first able to legally
purchase a motorcycle on his own (his parent's didn't approve of
his motorcycle riding/racing habit and forbid him from owning one).
Rich has raced everything from 125cc GP racers to full blown 1000cc
unlimited machines. He's also had the opportunity to race this variety
of machinery in multiple countries to include the US, Japan, and
the European Union!
He started his racing career riding under the Dark
Horse Racing (DHR) banner (at the time, the largest GP125cc
team in the Midwest), participating in the Great Lakes RoadRacing
Association (GLRRA) 125cc series. After 2yrs of tutelage and experience
with DHR, he moved to St. Louis and started the Rocket Jockey Racing
team in 2000.
During pursuit of the 2002 Championship
Cup Series (CCS) Midwest Expert 125GP regional championship
he relocated to Tokyo Japan. Within 4 months of arriving in the
"Land of the Rising Sun", Rich was able to obtain a Motorcycle
Federation Japan (MFJ) National roadracing license. The level
of competition was much greater in Japan than originally anticipated.
It took a number of years and different machinery before Rich finally
became a regular atop the podiums in Japan. Finally ending up on
a Harc-Pro
complete ST600 '03 CBR600RR, he was able to bring home results on
a regular basis in the MFJ ST600 championship. Unfortunately his
stay in Japan ended before he was able to collect the necessary
standings in the MFJ to obtain his Fédération
Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) International A license.
Following his departure from Japan, Rich then spent a year and
a half in the US. He returned to the CCS Midwest region to compete
for approximately 4 months in the top classes of Expert Unlimited
Superbike and Supersport. Rich also made an appearance in the American
Sportbike Racing Association (ASRA) Pro series at Barber. There
he claimed a number of top 10 finished (to include a 6th place)
aboard his bone-stock CBR1000RR amid a field of highly modified
unlimited 1000cc machinery.
During the winter months, Rich moved west to warmer weather arriving
in AZ. There he competed in the CCS
SouthWest region championships as well as the Arroyo
Seco Motorcycle Association (ASMA) series. Again sporting his
completely stock CBR1000RR, he was able to claim 3rd place in the
ASRA Unlimited SuperSport championship after competing in only 3/4ths
of the scheduled races!
The call of abroad was beckoning and again, Rich and the team found
themselves crossing the ocean, this time heading for Germany. Now
armed with a 2007 Honda SuperSport legal CBR600RR he picked up a
Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB)
International B racing license and competed the DMSB SuperSport
Bridgestone national series. Rich was ranked 7th in Germany as he
finished the 2008 DMSB SSP B season after attending only 5 of the
10 rounds!
For 2008, Rich set his sights on a true European championship and
purchased a season start number with the European
Speer Cup (ESC) 600 series. The ESC600 championship ran all
over Europe with sanctioned racing at many world-class circuits
such as; Magny Cours, Mugello, Barcelona, Brno, LausitzRing, and
Misano. Unfortunately the season did not go as planned. Rich was
only able to complete half of the scheduled races due to mechanical
issues and crashes. He was able to collect enough points to finish
7th in the 600cc championship.
The 2010 and 2011 seasons are an open book which will probably
see the Rich competing in a few local German races just to keep
his skills up while organizing a proper assult on the championship
of his choosing at a later date!
